guided speech practice at home, in Romanian

Private pilot

One short step a day with Teodor. At home, without pressure.

Învățăm cu Teodor takes the exercises a speech therapist would set for home and turns them into a few minutes of guided play a day, in Romanian, for the sounds S, Ș and R. The parent runs the session and marks what worked; a deterministic rule engine picks the next step and says why; the therapist sees everything, changes the goal when needed, and approves every exercise before a child sees it. It is a practice, monitoring and support tool. It does not diagnose, does not promise a cure, and does not replace the therapist. Today it is a live, locked-down private pilot: free, by invitation, with no payments.

I own the product strategy, the clinical-safety rails, the boundary between the rule engine and the AI layer, the data and consent model, and the identity.

What we are building

Teodor recommends, and says why

Every next step comes from the rule engine with a reason code and the data it looked at, framed as "Teodor recomandă". Sessions are short, the child never sees a "wrong", and the parent notes what worked at the end.

The speech therapist stays in charge

The parent invites the therapist by email. The therapist sees the child's profile, scores, observations and sessions, overrides the goal (track, sound, level, threshold), edits the 0–3 screening scores, adds notes, and approves content before it is published.

What it refuses to say

No diagnosis, treatment, cure or clinical verdict, anywhere in the interface or in AI output. A list of sixteen forbidden Romanian phrases (diagnostic, tratament, vindecare, garantăm, pacient and the rest) is scanned on every build, and a hit fails it. Claims of clinical or scientific validation are blocked in the same way and can only be unlocked by a signed sign-off packet.

Consent that can be withdrawn

Audio and video are stored only with explicit per-child consent, which the parent can revoke at any time; revoking deletes the recordings. Video is for the therapist's own interpretation and is never turned into an automated verdict shown to the parent.

How it works

The rule engine decides; AI narrates

The engine is a pure TypeScript function with no I/O: fourteen branches over the active goal, recent sessions and screening domains, covered by 43 tests. AI narration runs asynchronously in Teodor's voice, falls back to a fixed Romanian template, and the product works with the AI layer switched off.

Drafts need a human

AI-generated exercises land as drafts that need human review and cannot be published by the software. The AI validator is advisory only: it returns scores, concerns and suggestions, and never moves an item's status. A therapist or operator does.

A pilot, not a production release

Accounts are activated by hand, sign-in is by email link, and the child has no account of their own. Every child-scoped call passes an access guard and every input is validated. The public plans, free at 0 lei and Premium at 49 lei a month or 490 lei a year, and the therapist seat, free in the pilot and 149 lei a month or 1490 lei a year as Pro, are shown as a preview and cannot be bought until Stripe and FGO are integrated.
